Sewing Training

It has been four years since the Project Life sewing training center opened! During that time we have trained over 250 men and women who had little or no previous job skills. Most of our graduates have been able to get jobs and are now supporting their families.

This Livelihood Program grew out of a need to provide job training for the poor informal settlers of Olongapo City and surrounding areas. We collaborated with a local company, service club and individuals to make this dream come true. The training is provided free of charge. Both 3 month basic sewing and a 4 week high speed machine training are currently being offered. Many of our students have been employed on the Freeport, Olongapo and Subic. We have also been able to assist qualified individuals in setting up their own small businesses.

One aspect of the training is the making of our "Matibayong Bags". Our bags are made from durable industrial strength polymeric vinyl recycled material. We have added fabric trim to create a unique and beautiful bag. The bags are available to the public for a donation. All proceeds help fund the sewing training.
